What is Trainwreck Kratom?
If you’ve done any research into kratom, or are a frequent user, you’ve no doubt been introduced to the typical strains/veins. Red, Green, White and Yellow kratom, as well as those from various regions around the world.
Yet one ‘blend’ shrouded in mystery and often misrepresented by sketchy websites looking for a quick sale is Trainwreck Kratom.
In this guide we separate myth from fact, giving you insight into this lesser-known but interesting blend of kratom.
First off, the kratom industry has little regulation, making it of utmost importance that you purchase from reputable vendors you can trust. Not all vendors work directly with kratom farmers on the ground and pay for independent third-party testing like we do to protect our customers. With The Kratom Connection, you get exactly what’s on the label. Nothing more. Nothing less.
With that disclaimer out of the way, we want to highlight that not all sellers are truthful about what is in their blend of Trainwreck Kratom, with some simply labeling Yellow or Red-veined strains as such.
And that’s where science meets science fiction. Fact is, no one has much information about what actually constitutes an authentic ‘Trainwreck’ blend, with blends varying in composition, potency and effects between different suppliers.
Trainwreck kratom is frequently marketed as “full-spectrum”. This terminology was popularized in the CBD market, where CBD is combined with other naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes, making it a ‘full spectrum’ of the plant’s extract, not just an isolated single compound.
In the case of Kratom, full-spectrum is used in the context of the Trainwreck powder to describe the potential or implied value of combining several kratom strains in one powder.
The theoretical goal would be to combine the effects of one strain with those of another, hoping that the unique alkaloid profiles of each would act in a synergistic way.
Yet, the principles of full-spectrum synergy can’t blindly be applied to all types of botanicals. Currently, there are no scientific studies to back up any claims regarding use of this blend.
Kratom purchased from a reputable vendor, sourced directly from generational farms using organic and time-honored cultivation and processing techniques will be leagues ahead of the competition. Taking things a step further, we have our kratom tested at an FDA registered lab to ensure it is pure, potent and free from contaminants.
Trainwreck kratom produced or blended by competitors may not meet such stringent requirements. We’ve seen this blend hastily produced by mixing whatever leftover kratom strains they have laying around and calling it “Trainwreck”.
That’s the first issue.
The second potential issue is that we simply don’t have any data or research to back up the safety of mixing strains together.
Millions of people around the world have safely used kratom for centuries, but blending up to 11+ different strains together is something entirely new.
Trainwreck is sought out for two reasons:
1. The potential synergy or ‘entourage effect’ of multiple blends; and
2. For the alleged potency (claimed to be higher than Maeng Da)
With that in mind, we have some really great options to explore that can help you achieve similar results using time-honored strains that are consistent and reliable.
Green Vein Kratom
Green vein kratom is considered one of the most versatile strains of kratom. It is said to offer a unique melding of features found in strains on both ends of the spectrum, and in its own way offers a ‘full spectrum’ effect. Its unique combination of alkaloids offers a gentle invigoration, euphoria, mood elevation, stress relief, and a relaxed state without the deep relaxation and sedation found with more potent blends.
Maeng Da Kratom
For others, they seek out Trainwreck kratom based on the urban myth of its potency. While Trainwreck kratom can be quite potent, especially when the right veins are used in the proper proportions, it can also be inconsistent and unreliable due to lack of standardization.
The same cannot be said about Maeng Da. The name, literally translating into ‘pimp grade’, has long been revered for its potency and strength. If strong effects are what you’re after, Maeng Da delivers from the first scoop of powder to the last.
Final Thoughts About Trainwreck Kratom
Reportedly a blend of 11 or more individual strains of kratom, sellers of ‘Trainwreck’ market this blend as a more potent, full-spectrum, options. In reality, these blends have no standardization and little reliability. Those seeking a well-balanced kratom strain embodying the benefits of several unique veins in one should check out green strains, while those seeking a more powerful and potent plant would do well with Maeng Da (the most potent strain).
