What Is Red Hulu Kratom?

Where Does Red Hulu Kratom Originate From?

Hailing from the sometimes-dangerous shores of the famed Kapuas Hulu River (from whence it gets its name), Red Hulu Kratom is as scarce as it is highly sought after. The Mitragyna Speciosa trees producing the leaves that will eventually be made into kratom make up the edge of the Hulu Forrest, taking advantage of the unique soil composition and nutrients shuttled by the dynamically changing river. 

How Is Red Hulu Kapuas Kratom Made?

Mitragyna Speciosa trees are grown in the region by a few exclusive farms, employing time-honored techniques to harvest the red-veined leaves from which this strain is made, and bringing to market a product with a very unique composition of powerful alkaloids.

Red Veined kratom, which the Hulu variety is a sub-category of, is made from mature red-veined leaves hand selected and harvested. These leaves then undergo a natural drying process indoors. Here the leaves are kept under controlled conditions, with a watchful eye on the moisture, temperature, and UV light levels.

Once dried, the leaves are crushed and then ground into a consistently fine greenish powder that will later be packaged in airtight containers for shipment.

What Gives Red Hulu Kapuas Powder It’s Unique Effects?

Red Hulu, much like other strains of kratom, is comprised of over 20 unique alkaloid compounds thought to elicit physiological effects when consumed.

However, the two most prominent of these are 7-hydroxymitragynine and Mitragynine. In this particular vein, Mitragynine tends to be present in higher concentrations, with many of the reported effects being attributed mostly to this alkaloid.

The extract made me feel kind of jittery and didn’t have that same smooth, euphoric feeling I get from the powder.     I tried making Red Hulu into a tea once so it would digest faster, and the bitterness was just too much for me. Now, I just take it straight in powder form and wash it down quickly or mix it with something else to mask the flavor. If the capsules were cheaper I would go that route instead.

    I’ve been using kratom for around 3 months now. I’ve tended to use red leaf kratom to help mellow myself out and help with sleep. At first Red Bali was hands down my favorite. But I just purchased red hulu today and after about 4g + 2g of green hulu it has beat bali by a long shot. 4 hours in and I still feel so at ease and it seems to last so much longer than the others that I have tried.

And thinking the larger 1 gram capsules would be better was wrong. These were very weak leading me to stay with a trusted brand ‘Whole Herbs’.

    This is a good evening strain. At a higher dose, it makes me a little sleepy. Although it is quite sedating at a higher dose (6.5 grams for me), at around 4-5 grams I don’t feel sedated, just a good amount of relief. Nevertheless, this is my go-to evening strain!

    Took 3.15 grams the first time. Took me about 30 minutes to feel the effects. At 2 hours I think I was feeling the full strength. This is the first time I’ve tried Kratom. I was energetic and wanted to get things done but when it was time to sit down I was totally relaxed so I think that was a double benefit for me. The taste was not bad, it was earthy. Mixed it with a little water and was good to go. Lasted at least 4 hours.
