If there’s one thing that tens of millions of kratom users worldwide can agree on, it’s that kratom powder is BITTER. For those who wish to mask its earthy, bitter, organic taste, mixing it with food or drinks makes a lot of sense.

The goal of this guide isn’t to make you ‘Top Chef’, but rather to provide you with some quick, easy, affordable, and efficient recipes for your kratom powder, so you can enjoy the experience from first taste bud to the last hint of euphoria. We also compare kratom to coffee in our latest article as well.

Simple Recipes for Your Kratom Powder

1. The Kickback

This is about as simple as it gets. Take your favorite “greens” concoction or a citrus juice (we like orange, tangerine or pineapple), mix in the desired amount of kratom powder, swish and shoot that down faster than those Jager shots in college.

2. Java Express

Using a fine mesh filter combine coffee grounds with your kratom powder. Heat water (not to a boil, this will damage the alkaloids in kratom), and then pour over the mix using the mesh as a filter and letting the water drip down into your mug.

TIP: You may want to use decaf if you’re looking to calm down. Combining caffeine with white strains of kratom is TOO much energy for some, and wonderful energetic bliss for others. Pace yourself.

3. Get Zesty with Your Bestie

This zesty tea is potent and zippy, giving a real kick and a nice pucker that masks the bitter taste while enhancing the alkaloids with its acidic profile. Choose your tea, and filter the tea leaves and kratom together pouring hot but not boiling water over the mix.

Tip: Consider using hot apple cider, cinnamon tea, lemon tea, or plain water then adding lemon juice in when ready.

4. Goodness Gracious, Great Honey Balls of….Kratom?

Get your sweet tooth on! First, add your kratom powder to a bowl. GRADUALLY stir in honey, blending the mixture into a thick paste. Once this desired consistency has been achieved, roll the paste into small balls (size between ½ to 1 teaspoon each). Store in the refrigerator to keep fresh and hardened for easy consumption (like candy).

5. Apple Bottomed-Kratom

Fast, simple and tasty. Take your favorite applesauce, add a teaspoon of kratom (or desired dose), and add a pinch of cinnamon. The kratom might make your applesauce too bitter, so have some natural sugar or honey on hand to sweeten to the desired taste. Want to add a little more zest? A bit of lemon juice will do the trick!

6. Ice-Ice Baby…Lemonade

Iced kratom lemonade really hits the spot mid-summer. Not only is it refreshing and tangy, but the added acidity also enhances the kratom’s natural alkaloids. To make this fresh, simply add the juice of one lemon into a metal shaker, add in the desired amount of kratom, and ice cubed (we like crushed ice cubes), shake until nice and frothy, then serve!

7. Did you Say Spiced Pumpkin? We did…

Two of our favorite ways to make spiced pumpkin kratom are with a hot tea that will invigorate and soothe on those cool fall days, and pumpkin kratom pie!

For the Tea: Use crushed kratom leaves to steep the tea for 2-5 minutes, or run hot water over the powder using a fine mesh coffee filter. Next, add 1-2 TSPs of honey and sprinkle in pumpkin pie spice to taste.

For the Pie: We said we’d keep this “simple”, and we meant it. Take one can of pumpkin pie filling, add pumpkin pie spices to taste, add the desired amount of kratom powder, blend or mix thoroughly, then eat this atop cinnamon graham crackers, vanilla yogurt, or as is.

8. Yogurt Blends

There isn’t really much to this, but the reason we like using yogurt so much is that there are virtually endless possibilities with flavors to choose from (and it’s healthy). Perfect when you’re in a hurry or don’t want to make a fuss, simply add in the desired amount of kratom to 4-8oz of yogurt and you’ve got yourself a snack pack that would make anyone jealous.

8. Put the Kratom in the Coconut and Have Yourself a Drink

This coconut milk smoothie is rich, delectable and just the refreshment you need. Guaranteed to virtually mask the taste of the kratom entirely.

Combine the following in a blender and then mix for 1-2 minutes or until the desired consistency is achieved:

  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • 1 handful of almonds
  • Blueberries or strawberries (optional)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cut crushed ice
  • Kratom powder (whatever your preferred dosage)
  • A spoon of sugar or honey to taste

9. Get Your Juicing On!

Kratom is known for mixing well with juices, but juicing your own blends takes things to a whole new level of yum! Try adding kratom powder to your own recipe or check out the following:

  • 2 carrots
  • 1 apple
  • A bunch of spinach or kale
  • 1 lemon
  • Ginger juice (or a bit of diced ginger…not too much tho)
  • Kratom powder

Don’t have a juicer? Try this mix instead: ½ cup of mango juice, ½ cup pineapple juice, ½ cup orange juice, a pinch of ginger. Add kratom powder, mix, and serve over ice.

10. How About Some Desert with this Chocolate Kratom Milkshake

Chocolate is a great way to mask the bitterness of kratom. The added fat in milk can also aid in the absorption of fat-soluble alkaloids.

Add the following to a blender with ice:

  • 1 cup of cream or whole milk
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of cocoa or chocolate milk powder
  • ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 TBS of chocolate syrup
  • Kratom powder
